Sierra Leone has started issuing daily Ebola situation update for its various provinces beginning with August 13 summarizing cases through August 12, 2014.

EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE - SITUATION REPORT (Sit-Rep) – 13August, 2014
Main highlights
 For the 12th August 2014, a total of 26 new samples were received by the Kenema Laboratory: Kenema (21), Port
Loko (3)and Bo (2).Eleven (11) of these samples are positive from Kenema (9) and Port Loko (2).Four (4) of the
remaining samples are negative from Kenema (3) and Port Loko (1) while 11 samples arrive late and are recorded as
pending Lab. result.(see table 1)
 The 4 previous Lab. pending results from Kenema(3) and Tonkolili (1) are all negative
 The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 717 whiles confirmed death is 264with a Case Fatality
Rate (CFR) based on confirmed cases of 36.8%.
 Fifty-three (53) patients are currently admitted at the Kenema Isolation Unit with no report received from Kailahun
Isolation Unit. Cumulative discharge is191
 Data cleaning is on-going, therefore the figures in table 1 will keep on changing as the cleaning continues

 For the 14th August 2014, a total of 41new samples were analysed by the Kenema Laboratory: Kenema (28), Bombali
(1), Port Loko (3), Moyamba (1) and Western Area (8).Thirteen (13) of these samples are positive from Kenema
(8),Port Loko (2),Moyamba (1) and Western Area (2).Twenty-six (26) of the remaining samples are negative from
Kenema (18), Bombali (1),Port Loko (1) and Western Area (6) while 2 samples are recorded as pending Lab.
result.(see table 1)
 One (1) of the4 previous Lab. pending results is positive and 2 negative all from Kenema while the Western Area
pending result yesterday has been requested for a second draw
 Laboratory result forthe Kailahun Lab. was not received, therefore Lab. result for Kailahun district not reported
 The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 747 whiles confirmed death is 280 with a Case Fatality
Rate (CFR) based on confirmed cases of 37.5%.

EBOLA VIRUS DISEASE - SITUATION REPORT (Sit-Rep) – 19August, 2014
Main highlights
 For the 18th August 2014, a total of 60new samples were received by the Kenema and Kailahun Laboratory: Kenema
(21),Kailahun (19), Bombali (7), Bo (1), Moyamba (4), Port Loko (5) and Western Area (3).Five (5) of the 60 samples
are positive from Kailahun. The remaining samples are pending Lab. result.(see table 1)
 One (1) of theprevious Lab. pending resultis still pending
 The figures recorded for Kailahun are cumulative for 17th - 18thAugust,2014
 The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases still 783 whiles confirmed death is312with a Case Fatality Rate
(CFR) based on confirmed cases of 40.1%.
 Eighty-one (81) patients are currently admitted at the Kenema & Kailahun Isolation Unitwithcumulative
dischargesof220
 Data cleaning is on-going, therefore the figures in table 1 will keep on changing as the cleaning continues

samples are positive from Kailahun (3), Kenema (2), Bo (2) and Western Area (2). Eighteen (18) of the remaining
samples are negative while 19 samples are Lab. pending result.(see table 1)
 Twelve (12) of the previous Lab. pending result are now positive from Kenema (3),Bombali (3),Port Loko (3),Moyamba
(2) and Western Area (1) while 26 samples are negative from Kenema (17),Bo(1),Bombali (4),Port Loko (1),Moyamba
(1) and Western Area (2)
 The cumulative number of Laboratory confirmed cases are 804 whiles confirmed death is 320 with a Case Fatality
Rate (CFR) based on confirmed cases of 39.8%.
 Eighty-nine (89) patients are currently admitted at the Kenema & Kailahun Isolation Unit with cumulative discharges of
225
 Data cleaning is on-going, therefore the figures in table 1 will keep on changing as the cleaning continues
 The CDC Lab. team is now in Kenema setting up Laboratory equipment. Testing will hopefully commence on
Friday, August 22, 2014
