After identifying a suspected case of hemorrhagic fever in Mbandaka (Equateur), the Health Minister Felix Kabange Numbi, invites the people of this city in peace. In a statement Tuesday, August 26 at Radio Okapi, he argues that this suspected case has nothing to do with the Ebola epidemic plaguing the sector Djera in the same province.
" I know there was a lady of 65 years we have brought to the hospital in Wangata and people have said right away that there Ebola, while this is a case that has nothing to do with Ebola " says Felix Kabange Numbi.
He says the government has raised the threshold for the epidemiological surveillance of all hemorrhagic fevers.
"Typhoid fever is as a fever that goes up the first week and remains in the tray. The first week, the person can do epistaxis [nosebleed, Ed] even if it does not happen often, after the person is going to bloody diarrhea " , he says.
Felix Kabange estimates that if all cases of hemorrhagic fever Ebola should be reported, that would worry the population.
The Minister of Health called for calm promises to give more transparent about the Ebola outbreak information.
A lady living in the neighborhood Bongondjo, which showed signs of haemorrhagic fever 65, was conducted Monday, August 25 at the hospital general reference Wangata. The patient and the family members who accompanied him were quarantined.
Ebola hemorrhagic fever was reported Sunday, August 24 at Djera. With this confirmation, the DRC is in its seventh infection of this disease.
