Friday's early release MMWR adds another trH3N2 case, confirms another novel cluster with no swine exposure, and brings the frequency for the six most recent sequences for cases under the age of 10 to 100%. The report also casts additional doubt on any swine linkage to the earlier cases, and indicates the pandemic in the under 10 age group has been spreading since the initial July and August cases were reported in the September 2 MMWR early release.

This realization has led to the guidance changes listed in Friday's MMWR, which request samples, create a case definition, and request reports of such cases within 24 hours.
