It seems plausible the woman was treated with Tamiflu, after using Tamiflu, test results tend to be negative.

There are many ways to generate false negatives. WHO and the Ministry of Health have yet to confirm that the two children were H5N1 infected.

Deaths spark bird flu fears in Bali

Health authorities in Bali are concerned that the bird flu virus which recently killed two children has spread across the island,

Local media also report that residents in neighboring Lombok are seeing chicken deaths.

Putu Sumantra, head of the Bali Livestock Agency, told the Jakarta Globe the pattern of the spread of the disease was similar, although smaller in scale, to 2007, when a bird flu pandemic swept the island.

“Back then, around 4,000 birds died, but this time the figure is much smaller,” Sumantra said.

“Most of the cases occurred in poultry raised on small farms,” Sumantra added. “Those on larger commercial farms tend to be vaccinated on a regular basis so aren’t as vulnerable.”

Ketut Kariyasa Adnyana, a member of the provincial legislature, said he was concerned that the spread of the disease would hurt the island’s tourism industry.

He said it came at a critical time, with US President Barack Obama among world leaders scheduled to arrive in Bali for the East Asia Summit.

62 villages in Bali have been infected with bird flu

108CSR.com - The bird flu virus has claimed three victims in Bali, Wayan brothers Ari Aldiawan and Nengah Rica, along with their mother, Ni Wayan Purnami. All three are citizens of the Village Jehem, Bangli regency, Bali.

But the Governor of Bali, Made Mangku Pastika, not too worried about the bird flu virus will develop into a plague. According to him, Bali has been experienced to handle the bird flu virus. "We are very experienced. All appropriate SOPs already set standards. Living community participation needs to be improved to prevent the spread of the deadly virus," said Pastika in Bali Parliament House on Friday (21/10).

Pastika said the Provincial Government of Bali has been attempts to localize the birds and make the vaccine. "I appealed to the district government is also doing the same thing," he said. During this time, continued Pastika, has never been any protest from the central government and relevant international world of bird flu in Bali, because of all SOPs handling of bird flu has been conducted properly.

Meanwhile, the rapid test (rapid test) has shown, that the 62 villages in Bali have been infected. Rapid test were retested several times in a number of laboratories, and the result is the same, namely 62 birds in the area of bird flu positive.

The Ministry of Health of Indonesia has announced two new confirmed cases of human infection with avian influenza A(H5N1) virus.

The first case is a 5-year old female from Bangli district, Bali Province. She developed symptoms on 27 September, and was first admitted to a local general hospital on 5 October. She died on 9 October.

The second case is a 10-year old male, the brother of the first case. He developed symptoms on 30 September, and was first admitted to the hospital on the same day as his sister. He died on 10 October.

An epidemiological investigation conducted by the Ministry of Health and local health officers indicated that the children lived in an area with poultry, and household and neighborhood poultry had died prior to the children’s illnesses.

Laboratory tests have confirmed infection with avian influenza A(H5N1) virus.

Of the 181 cases confirmed to date in Indonesia, 149 have been fatal.

The HA sequences from the 5F and 10M were closely related to each other, but were not the source of the H5N1 from the 29F.
