Although media reports on H1N1 in the US are starting to appear, it is much easier to see the effects of H1N1 in Mexico because influenza was dominated by H3N2 for the past season, so the number of severe and fatal cases in young adults was minimal. Moreover, the flu season peaked in 2010, so the overall level in Mexico was low. Thus, the appearance of an H1N1 sub-clade that produced severe and fatal disease in young adults was easy to spot.

In the US there has been H1N1 circulating at relatively high levels since 2011, and S188T dominated, so there was a steady level of severe and fatal cases. Moreover, the reporting generally fails to distinguish between H3N2 and H1N1 because a high percentage of influenza A cases is not sub-typed. which muddies the water. Moreover, as noted in the latest media report from Texas, officials are focused on cases with underlying conditions, which excludes severe and fatal cases in young adults without underlying conditions.

Juarez danger zone for cases of H1N1 virus

Ciudad Juárez, Chihuahua.-With 39 suspected cases of influenza in the state, 7 and confirmed 5 deaths (3 confirmed as a result of H1N1 virus), a TBC and a discarded, the State Ministry of Health refuses to issue warning and holds high the 'moderate', considering that the problem is not serious.

Jorge Duque Rodríguez, commissioned to provide information on this contingency, the state explained that there have been 5 deaths, of which only 3 were confirmed as a result of H1N1 influenza virus, and is still pending confirmation of the virus in another victims and one was dismissed, so we will install a specialized technical committee to investigate the true cause of death of this person.

At a news conference, state Health Secretary Sergio Piña Marshall, the commissioner by the Government to provide information about influenza, Jorge Duque Rodriguez and the director of State Health Services, Angel Villasenor disclosed that the outbreak has remained stable at the moment there are 39 suspected cases of H1N1 influenza, only 7 have been confirmed, of which 6 in Ciudad Juarez, including a Texas resident and one in Chihuahua.

These are just more games being played with "lab confirmation", which has SERIOUS shortcomings. The "dismissed" case is the first death, who was the partner of the confirmed death. There is no doubt that the first case died from H1N1, but the case was discarded because of FALSE negatives.

Mexico (and most countries) produce numbers that GROSSLY underestimate fatal and severe cases because of false negatives. The lab testing is hijacked for political and propaganda purposes, which has been the case since SARS in 2002. Lab confirmation is used for H5N1, H1N1, and pandemic H1N1 to manage the message and "control" the number of lab confirmed cases, which is SOP.

Rise to four new cases suspected of carrying virus

Health authorities reported four new suspected cases of patients who may be infected with the virus A (H1N1) human influenza.

The surveillance medical committee announced that there are three men and a woman who showed symptoms.

Hector Puertas Rincones, director of the Health District II, said that two of these cases are already hospitalized and two more are in their homes.

He said the official number of deaths from the human influenza is two people, while one more is researched and another death was ruled to be caused by the virus.

Another person dies of atypical pneumonia; expect results to see if H1N1 is involved

The director of the Health II Jursidicción of Ciudad Juárez, announced this afternoon at a press conference, which was presented another possible death from the H1N1 influenza virus.

He said that there were two deaths, 1 of which was negative to the virus and the other expected results to confirm whether it was because of the virus.

If so, would add 4 fatalities in this border because of the virus.

These new deceased patients would represent the sixth and seventh death in Chihuahua. Officially we will have 4 dead in this state -Only confirmed by laboratory- But I'm only assuming 6 dead -based on media reports- in this outbreak as one is pending of confirmation and the other is """negative"""

But the "negative" is a traffic officer who was a partner of a "positive". The negative is clearly FALSE.
