The CDC has released (at GISAID) 21 HA sequences from recent H3N2 isolates (most collected in July and August). 10 of the isolates have evolved beyond a series released a few weeks ago. One of the 10 (from Columbia) was designated as a Perth "low reactor". All 10 of these isolates had S199A.

Interesting and predictable !!!

Viruses constantly change and vaccines are changed to match. Its a real cat and mouse game.

Will H3N2 sequences with S199A make it a deadlier virus or will this strain create a lower CDR. ??

I'm not a real believer in Vaccines when you have effective antivirals around. I think the body needs a dose of any virus to develop natural antibodies to it.

Education is needed re the administration of Antivirals both to doctors and the public.

Overuse and the resistance argument doesnt cut it. Look at H274Y.

But as we all know Viruses are predictably unpredictable.
