La Paz - Bolivia .- Every day , three people come to University Hospital with suspected symptoms of H1N1 , the same ones that are tested and treated , said the general manager of the Hospital de Clinicas , Eduardo Chavez.
For its part, Health Minister Nila Heredia played down the increasing number of infected , claiming that over 90 percent of people who come under suspicion of influenza are negative.
The disease is a respiratory infection with which people learn to live together in recent times and the Hospital is a health center that has a lot of influx of patients who presented with suspicious symptoms.
In that sense , the general manager of this hospital , Eduardo Chavez who are daily reported three patients who attend with symptoms similar to influenza A , but all this would provide adequate treatment for prevention from the outset , although not have the results to confirm or dismiss a positive case.
Also, Chavez recommended to the general population have the respective care , staying in bed for people with colds , as a preventive measure to the spread of respiratory infections, try not to go to places with lots of pedestrian traffic and especially to protect children attending different schools.
For his part , Minister Heredia, evaded the issue of the number of cases of influenza A/H1N1 indicating that this would only alarm the people not mentioned because people healed to reduce the number of infections.
In turn, minimized the high number of suspected cases alleging that more than 90 percent, ruling out the presence of influenza A and remains as acute respiratory infection, so the remaining 10 percent has a majority pictures of evolution and continue outpatient treatment in their homes.
The outbreak of the virus is slowed down compared to last year's crisis . Cases of this disease are low compared to figures of 2009, when Bolivia reported from May to December, more than 2,500 confirmed cases of people infected with the flu and 59 deaths. In the current management were 100 positive cases.
In the comparative tables of influenza A between the last administration and the current figures are still far apart , since 2009 the country was , for the first time , a pandemic of this magnitude. Without knowing the severity of influenza , the population did not take preventive measures seriously .
