According to the Associated Press,
two more people have died in northeast Kansas from swine flu, bringing the state's fatal H1N1 virus case total to six, and cases have been confirmed in 55 of the state's 105 counties.
http://media.www.psucollegio.com/media/ ... 0655.shtmlNationally, the advisory committee on immunization practices, an expert panel that advises the secretary of health and human services, gave the state of Kansas suggestions on who gets the vaccinations.
Eberhart-Phillips says Kansas will obey what the advisory committee proposed.
"We are going to follow these recommendations to the letter," he said. "These target groups include first: pregnant women, children who live with or are with children younger than six months of age, health care and emergency personal, everyone in the population age six months to 24 years and people age 25 to 64 who are at higher risk for disease for the H1N1 because they have chronic illness."
Eberhart-Phillips says there were a large number of vaccinations ordered, but it might not be enough.
"We have 16,000 doses," he said. "But that will cover one-half of one percent of what we are anticipated to need."
