Quote: First swine flu related death in Croatia A 61 year-old patient died in Split on Saturday after battling a severe case of the swine flu, becoming the first victim of the virus in Croatia. The patient had a bad case of pneumonia and was breathing with the help of a respirator for several days before passing, according to local media. Over 1,000 people have been infected with the swine flu in Croatia thus far, most in the capital of Zagreb. 140 have been infected with the virus in Split. One 35 year-old prisoner is also suspected of having contracted the virus, though it has not been proven with laboratory results yet. > http://www.b92.net/eng/news/region-arti ... v_id=62729

Quote: The second person to die from swine flu in Croatia was not a man but a three-year-old girl from Split.
The Croatian media reported that an unknown man had died from swine flu on Saturday, but Minister of Health Darko Milinovic dismissed those allegations.
Milinovic said a three-year-old girl who also suffered from acute leukaemia had been the victim.
Milinovic said the man who died at Zagreb’s Fran Mihaljevic clinic had not been diagnosed with swine flu.
A 61-year-old man who died in Split hospital on 31 October from massive organ failure was the first swine flu fatality in Croatia.
The minister visited hospitalized patients suffering from swine flu today (Tues) and stressed one more time there was no reason for panic.
There are around 1,600 people with swine flu in Croatia. http://www.croatiantimes.com/news/Gener ... death_case

Quote: H1N1 spreading rapidly: six patients quarantined Quote: While the number of patients is still relatively low in Croatia, Serbia is bracing itself for the next year’s pandemic. Branislav Tiodorović, a member of the Group for Prevention of pandemic, said that in the case of state-wide epidemic, all the prevention measures would be taken and that the public should brace itself for the real pandemic; which is expected to hit in the February Quote: Only one patient in Croatia has died from swine flu, but infectious diseases department in Zagreb is currently trying to save the lives of four men. The lives of the four patients are threatened and they are breathing with a help of respiratory machines. Quote: Croatia has made Wednesday a new case of death related to H1N1 influenza, bringing to three the number of people killed in the country after being infected by the virus, said Health Minister Darko Milinovic.
"We have a new death in connection with the new flu. He is a man of 62 years who suffered from both diabetes and died at a hospital in Zagreb," said Milinovic to national television.
More than 2,500 people have been infected by the virus H1N1 in Croatia, since the appearance in July of this flu in the country, according to data from the Institute of Public Health (Croatian HZJZ), quoted by the agency Hina.
The minister said that Croatia had henceforth "already dealing with an epidemic," but it would not be officially declared.
