Moreover, the Serbian Minister of Education, Zarko Obradovic, decided Tuesday to extend for two days the school holidays in Serbia, following an increase in the number of infections.

"I decided this morning to extend the school holidays" for two days, until November 11, Obradovic said in an interview on TV B92.

Many cases have been detected in children of school age. A school military in Belgrade was closed due to the epidemic.

187 swine flu cases, 2 deaths

BELGRADE -- A total of 187 cases of swine flu have been registered in Serbia as of Wednesday, with two fatal outcomes.

This was confirmed by the head of the Health Ministry's Working Group set up to monitor the pandemic, Dr. Predrag Kon.

The Torlak Institute of Immunology and Virology in Belgrade today confirmed the presence of the virus in two patients from Kruševac, one from Sremska Mitrovica and one from Kragujevac.

The woman from Ćuprija is the third victim of the new flu after Susanna R. from the village of Great Šiljakovac in Krusevac, who died on the way from Krusevac to Infektivnoj clinic in Belgrade.

Since the new influenza 21st October died a women from the Upper Milakovca, (near Kraljevo) after hospitalization in Kraljevo, due to severe clinical picture moved to the Emergency Center, Clinical Center Kragujevac.

"It is important that physicians who take care of any serious cases that they believe is associated with influenza A (H1N1) accept as a new grip and immediately start treatment, because they will not be able to examine any serious cases, laboratory testing will be done only when it is necessary to connect the patient to the respirator, "said Kon.

4th flu victim in Serbia

Another swine flu death in Serbia

5 November 2009


A 50-year-old Čačak native who died in Kragujevac this afternoon has become the fourth victim of swine flue.

Serbia has 204 confirmed cases of the virus as of Thursday, it was announced earlier in the day.

In Kosovo, three children, none of whom are exhibiting severe symptoms of the disease, have been reported as the first cases in the province.

The three patients come from Kosovska Mitrovica, and the Serb enclaves of Goraždevac and Gračanica.

Kosovska Mitrovica hospital chief Dr. Milena Cvetković told Local Kontakt Plus Radio that there was no reason to panic, and that all epidemiological measures would be implemented, in line with the recommendations given by Serbia's Ministry of Health.

Fifth swine flu-related death recorded in Serbia

NIŠ -- An elderly man died in the Niš Infective Clinic from complications arising from the swine flu, health expert Branislav Tiodorović said.

Tiodorović, a member of the government’s working group for following the pandemic, confirmed that this was the fifth person to die of swine flu-related health problems.

Tiodorović is also an epidemiologist at the Public Health Institute in Niš and was following the case closely.

6th and 7th swine flu-related death recorded in Serbia

19:07 UZICE, Nov 8 (Tanjug) - Two patients have died of the H1N1 flu and the disease was confirmed for seven other, the Uzice Health Center said Sunday.
One of the patients, who died of flu-related complications, was a man who spent several days on life support.

There are 5 death case registered in Serbia so far. On Saturday, Serbian Healthcare Minister said that if the spreading of the flu virus continues, authorities are to decide on November 9 whether to declare national epidemic like Bulgaria already did, Alfa television says.
