By measuring the heart rate, respiratory rate, level of skin resistance, blood pressure and brainwave activity in someone practicing the Ascension techniques, you will find that the level of rest is much deeper than the rest of even the deepest sleep at night. Furthermore, that deeper level of rest can be obtained within ten minutes of practice, whereas it usually takes 4 to 6 hours to get to the deepest level of rest during sleep.
What a load of bull. You reach the deepest levels of sleep within a half hour to 45 minutes of going to sleep, and your deepest levels of sleep are almost entirely in the first half of the night, within the first 3 hours. Sleep architecture is a cycle of alternating deep and shallower periods with interspersed REM sleep. If someone took 4-6 hours to reach deep sleep, they'd be diagnosed with a sleep disorder.
Furthermore, the level of "rest" (notice change in goalposts here from sleep to "rest", from a very easily defined term to a more subjective, nebulous one) attained by someone practicing Ascension techniques has been found to be mostly Stage 1 and some Stage 2 sleep or awake, relaxed alpha rhythms and isn't at all equivalent to the delta waves of deep Stage 3 and 4 deep sleep. You'd get the same level of rest by simply taking a quick nap.

90% (if not more) of all disease is psychosomatic.
Evidence please! My pathology classes say differently, and we've got the evidence to back us up. While it is perfectly true to say that illnesses are affected by psychological factors and vice versa (mind/body dualism went out a while ago with the realization that the mind is what the brain does for a living), a claim that a high percentage of illnesses are psychosomatic is speculative baloney. So, am calling BS on this one.

This [psychosomatic] is a fancy word which means that a disorder having physical symptoms actually originated from mental or emotional causes. To simplify it even further you could say that most of our ill health is a result of too much stress, or too little rest.
Well, since "too much stress" and "too little rest" are both
physiological conditions and not purely psychological or emotional states, he's just shot his argument that most diseases are psychosomatic in the foot by proposing two physiological causes when he was trying to propose mental and emotional ones. Whooopsie.
