Widespread Influenza activity statewide.
This week one county reported widespread activity, and 28 counties reported moderate activity. Thirty-five counties reported increasing influenza activity. ILINET Influenza-like Illness-Statewide ILI activity is near the moderate threshold and above previous pandemic and non-pandemic influenza seasons at this time.
In recent weeks, cirulation of 2009 H1N1 has increased.
(I would describe as roaring back; RIP AH3)No pediatric influenza mortality was reported.
In week 4 there were four influenza or ILI outbreaks and one respiratory illness outbreak reported into EpiCom:
Duval County: A medical group home outbreak of influenza A. The group home houses residents from 9-52 years old with multiple underlying conditions. Four out of 24 residents developed ILI; all were PCR-positive for influenza A. Three of these residents were hospitalized. Several staff developed ILI previously. The facility instituted control measures and subtype analysis from BOL is pending.
Duval County: An assisted living facility (ALF) outbreak of influenza A. Nineteen of 81 residents and 13 staff developed ILI. 1 resident was hospitalized and tested PCR positive for influenza A.
Citrus County: A skilled nursing facility (SNF) outbreak of ILI. Seventeen of 107 patients and 2 of 100 staff experienced symptoms of coughing, fever, and chills. No specimens were collected. Antiviral treatment was administered and control measures were implemented.
Polk County: A nursing home outbreak of ILI. Beginning in December, staff and residents began experiencing ILI symptoms. Cumulatively 33/242 residents and 82/309 staff have developed ILI in all units at the nursing home. No specimens were taken. CHD advised facility of proper control procedures.
Hillsborough County: An SNF outbreak of respiratory illness. Eleven residents and 9 staff reported symptoms of cough, fever and congestion. Control measures were implemented by the facility. Three residents tested negative for influenza, one resident had a positve H influenza result from sputum.
