94 swine flu infection cases have been confirmed in Romania during the last 24 hours, taking the numbers of the patients affected by the new flu to 1,001, according to the Romanian Health Ministry. Three schools shut down for a week.

Most of the patients tested positive for swine flu over the last 24 hours were registered in Bucharest - 18, Iasi (North-East) - 10, Dolj (South) - 9 and Suceava (East) - 9.

There were seven new cases in Prahova (South), five in Vaslui (East), four in Alba (Central-West), Arad (West), Galati (East) and Harghita (Central-North), three in Bacau (East), Constanta (South-East), Mehedinti (South-West), Teleorman (South) and Timis (West) and two in Arges (South), Brasov (Central), Dambovita (South), Sibiu (Central), Mures (Central), and one case in Hunedoara (Central-West) and in Ilfov (South-East).

Three high schools in Bucharest have been closed down for a week, starting on Tuesday, due to the numerous swine flu cases: Mihai Viteazul National College, Goethe German College and Marin Preda High School, according to Romanian TV channel Antena 3.
