(ANSA) - Rome, September 2 - The new flu will peak in Italy from Christmas to the New Year with 1.5-3 million people laid up for a couple of weeks, Health Undersecretary Ferruccio Fazio said Wednesday.

Fazio put the expected peak of the H1N1 virus at December 18-January 18.

Schools could be shut in a ''targeted'' way, he said, ruling out ''generalised'' closures.
