Summary:In weeks 23-24/2010 17 samples have been sent to the laboratories of the sentinel system of which three have been positive for seasonal influenza virus B (18%) all notified by the network of the Canary Islands in a population under age 15.
A total of four detections have been reported by sentinel and non sentinel, 25%
correspond to AnH1N1 and 75% to influenza virus B.
It's been updated information on severe clusters of AnH1N1 in Galicia and the
outbreak of influenza B in the population under 15 years in the Canaries.

It has also been reported a detection of pandemic virus
from the Laboratory of Galicia....
To date,
we have identified 18 viruses with the D222G mutation in the HA1 region
distributed hemagglutinin: Andalusia (3), Castilla La Mancha (4), Catalonia (3), Galicia
(5) and the Basque Country (3). They have been detected in critically ill patients. We have also identified 99 strains with the D222E mutation in patients in serious and milder condition coming from different regions.To date 12 have been identified with the mutation H275Y virus spread over
Andalusia (2), Baleares (1), Catalonia (1), Galicia (3), Madrid (3), Navarra (1) Basque Country (1).
Epidemiological data collected show that all patients were treated
oseltamivir prior to the detection of the resistant strains.
All of the M2 protein sequences analyzed from week 40 / 2009 (105) show
S31N mutation conferring resistance to the antiviral adamantane family

From the Public Health Department of Galicia have been updated two new
severe cases of pandemic virus confirmed in Ourense Hospital Complex(CHOU), so far, were reported six severe cases of confirmed
AnH1N1 between weeks 19-22/2010 (9 to 26 May). The new case
reported in week 23/2010 is a woman of 73 years, She has asthma, with a history
2009-10 seasonal vaccination and vaccine
pandemic immunization status unknown
; not need to enter the ICU and was discharged. The second case
reported in week 24/2010 is a woman of 77 years, asthma, with vaccine
Seasonal administered and no history of pandemic vaccination. She is
in stable condition without needing the ICU.
None of these cases has
connection with the previously reported cases...
