Australian Update: as at 19th August 2009
Confirmed cases to date 32224 (increase of 1231)
Deaths to date 121 (increase of 3) or 0.375% of total confirmed Australian cases.
Hospitalised to date 3802 (increase of 152)
Currently Hospitalised 460 (increase of 15)
Currently critical 100 (increase of 6)
% of hospitalised in relation to confirmed cases to date. 11.79%

My comment: the last two days have seen a significant increase over previous days in new daily cases confirmed.

Australian Swine Flu Update 20th August, 2009
Confirmed Cases to Date: 32799 (increase of 575) as at noon today
Deaths to Date 128 (increase of 7) This would be 0.39% of confirmed cases to date.
Hospitalised to Date 3863 (increase of 61)
Currently Hospitalised 455 (increase of 5)
Current critical 95 (down 5 )
Percentage of hospitalised from confirmed cases to date. 11.77%

New South Wales Health says three more people with swine flu have died in the state but the severity of the virus appears to be easing.

The latest victims are a man in his 50s, a woman in her 70s and a woman in her mid-20s - all with underlying health conditions.

Their deaths take the state's toll to 36.

At noon today Australia has 33 179 confirmed cases of pandemic (H1N1) 2009.

Deaths

The total number of Australian deaths associated with pandemic (H1N1) 2009 is
currently 131, with 2 confirmed deaths in the ACT, 36 in NSW, 5 in the NT, 28 in Qld,
14 in SA, 6 in Tas, 24 in Victoria and 16 in WA.

Hospitalisations

There are currently 456 people in hospital around Australia with pandemic (H1N1) 2009
and 98 of these are in Intensive Care Units.
There are 189 people hospitalised in NSW, 17 in the NT, 92 in Qld, 54 in SA, 7 in Tas,
22 in Victoria and 75 WA.
ICU admissions: Of the 98 people currently in Intensive Care Units, there are 24 in NSW,
5 in the NT, 29 in Qld, 14 in SA, 9 in Vic and 17 in WA.

"Two more deaths related to swine flu in South Australia have taken to 14 the number of deaths in the state from the outbreak.
SA Health Department says an elderly woman, 72, died on Thursday in Calvary Hospital.
A man, 60, died earlier in the month at the Royal Adelaide Hospital..."

Update for Australian increases over yesterday as at noon 21/8/2009
Confirmed cases to date 33179 (an increase of 380 as at noon today.)
Deaths to date 131 (an increase of 3 or 0.39% of total confirmed cases)
Total hospitalised to date 4082 (an increase of 219)
Current hospitalised 459 (an increase of 4)
Critical cases out of current hospitalised 98 (an increase of 3)
Percentage of total hospitalised to date in relation to total confirmed cases 12.3%
(this is up from around 11.7%)

Currently hospitalised 458 (increase of 2)

percentage of hospitalised out of confirmed cases to date 12.4%

My comment:
This is the lowest increase in number of confirmed cases we've seen lately.
Coincidentally we are almost into Southern Hemisphere spring.

A FOUR-year-old boy who died in Princess Margaret Hospital is the latest WA victim of human swine flu, taking the state's death toll to 17.The Department of Health has confirmed two more deaths linked to human swine influenza.

A four-year-old boy with underlying medical conditions died at PMH today.

A 66-year-old woman with underlying medical conditions died at her home on August 10.

WA has now recorded 17 deaths related to human swine influenza.

As no figures published for 23rd August am basing comparison on figures as at noon 22nd.
Am aware I'm duplicating a link - however necessary to do this so viewers may check figures below.
Total confirmed cases to date 33511 (an increase of 283 in two days to noon)
Total deaths to date 132 (no new deaths since 22nd August)
deaths as a percentage of total confirmed cases - 0.39%
Total Hospitalised to date 4147 (an increase of 25)
Total currently in hospital 458 (no change)
Current critical cases of out currently hospitalised 104 (increase 2)
percentage of hospitalised to date against total confirmed cases to date 12.37%
