Quote: November 5 (RIA Novosti) - A 25-year-old man died of the A/H1N1 virus in Ufa, the capital of Russia's Urals Republic of Bashkortostan, a source from the regional sanitary watchdog said on Thursday.
"A young man died ten days after falling ill," the source said.
This is the sixth laboratory confirmed swine flu case and the first swine flu death in the republic, the source added.
A total of 15 people have died in Russia of swine flu and 3,122 other cases have been confirmed as the A/H1N1 virus as of November 3.
The swine flu cases in Russia began growing considerably in October, traditionally the time for a seasonal flu outbreak. The country's first swine flu deaths were reported on October 27.
As of October 25, more than 440,000 laboratory confirmed cases of H1N1 influenza have been reported to the World Health Organization, resulting in over 5,700 deaths.

Murmansk Oblast authorities have declared the flu situation in the region as epidemic. Cultural and sport events are cancelled and people requested not to take their children abroad.
Governor Dmitry Dmitriyenko has signed a decree stating that the number of flu infections in the region has exceeded the epidemic level, the regional government’s web pages read.
Murmansk is one of the first regions in Russia to declare the situation as epidemic. So far, only the Perm region in the Urals is known to have done the same.
The number of people infected with swine flu in Murmansk is now 55, B-port.com reports. 46 of the infected are children.
The authorities recommend that all larger cultural and sport events should be limited. In the Norwegian border town Kirkenes, international competitions in both swimming and soccer already have been affected by Russian limitations on foreign travel for children.
Teachers and pupils are requested to wear masks at school. As BarentsObserver reported, a school in Murmashi outside Murmansk became the first in Russia to be closed because of confirmed or probable cases of swine flu.
Norwegian health authorities have recommended that everyone should be vaccinated against the swine flu. In Kirkenes, mass vaccination of the population has started. The first 500 received the vaccine this week, while another 1000 are awaiting their jabs next week

Quote: Two deaths from swine flu have been confirmed in Russia's Urals, the sanitary watchdog in the Chelyabinsk Region said on Wednesday. The fatalities bring the official national death toll from swine flu to 16, with several other fatal cases reported. Media reports earlier said there have been 26 human swine flu deaths registered in the country.
"Laboratory tests have confirmed two more deaths caused by the highly pathogenic flu as of November 11 - a 52-year-old man and a pregnant woman of 21," local Rospotrebnadzor spokeswoman Svetlana Ozhered said.
Health Minister Tatyana Golikova earlier said that confirmed swine flu cases exceeded 4,560 in Russia as of Monday.
Mass swine flu vaccinations began in five Russian regions last week. Medical staff, and employees at electric power and water treatment plants and other facilities will be inoculated first.
Four vaccines against the virus have been tested and registered in Russia. The government has allocated 4 billion rubles ($140 million) to buy the initial 43 million doses of vaccines. Russia plans to have 35.5 million doses before the end of the year.
Golikova warned earlier this month against panic over the virus, which has caused a shortage of medical masks and antiviral medicines in clinics and retail drug stores, and pledged to step up control of drug stores' supplies and prices.

Quote: Minister of Health and Social Development Tatiana Golikova: According to Ms. Golikova, “the information we receive shows that the mortality rate as a result of A/H1N1/ is almost equal to that brought about by seasonal grippe. The observations of specialists show that some five to six per cent of patients, infected with the swine flu, suffer from its grave form. Some 25 per cent of those five to six per cent suffer from after-effects, which require the use of intensive therapy. This makes some 1.5 per cent of a total number of patients.” Quote: “Concerning our neighborhood with Ukraine, where the situation is serious, I could say that we do not intend to close the border. At the same time, we intensified sanitary control at border check points,” she added http://bsanna-news.ukrinform.ua/newsite ... 77&lang=en google
