The IDENTITY between A/Hangzhou/1/2013 and A/Jiangsu/01/2013, including L226I signals clonal expansion in HUMANS.

Nonsense. No poultry has L226I (or PB2 E627K)

So if you think the human sequences are identical to poultry, have you lowered your pandemic estimate from 5%?

You should look up the meaning of IDENTICAL.

You are VERY confused. L226I was the key, and when it was repeated in Jiangsu/1, you missed it, as BEST.

also new cases are going down --> 3%
biggest risk IMO is reassortment with H1N1
H1-wave in China is also declining now

they may succeed to wipe it out

-------------------------------------------

you are always only looking at HA. There are 7 other segments
that show the spread. You hardly ever find 2 viruses with exactly the same
genome in all segments
Remember Karo.

Reality check. H7N9 is all about mammalian adaptation via SINGLE NUCLEOTIDE POLYMORPHISMS, especially those in and around the RECEPTOR BINDING DOMAIN.

The Q226L is common in H9 in H9N2. The acquisition of the H9N2 internal genes made Q226L viable in H7, so it is in most of the poultry sequences, as well as most of the human H7N9 sequences.

L226I is the HUMAN key change, which is in SEASONAL flu. When in appeared in Hangzhou/1 (a chef who was infected in Jiangsu, where he works) it signaled HUMAN adaptation (L226I is NOT in poultry, and neither is PB2 E627K). When it appeared in Jiangsu/1 and every position in H7, N9, and MP EXACTLY matched Hangzhou/1 is signal HUMAN To HUMAN CLONAL EXPANSION, which led you to LOWER you pandemic prediction!

does anyone else see it this way ? No google-news hits for "L226I".
You are so often concerned about such things (search recombinomics
for cause for concern) but it never materialized.

does HA react with other segments so some receptors are more "compatible"
with certain inner segments ??
H7 and H9 are among the most distant HA-pairs

what's your pandemic probability ? Did it not decline since
cases are going down ?

Google hits???????????

L226I virtually assures a pandemic. Just look at the map

Your pandemic analysis speaks VOLUMES!
