Thanks. One of the opposing teams had been undefeated in the matchups ... but had some technical difficulties. A lot has to go right at the time of the matches.
I didn't see any three-robot-bridge balancing at the matches today, but some very high scoring.
Good luck to Girls of Steel!
Just got back to Pittsburgh.
GoS had issues from the start. Inspections were tougher than Pittsburgh and Watson is right at the 120 lb weight limit, so added weight had to be removed by drilling holes. These modifications took all day, so only one practice session on Thursday.
Friday was a disaster. Waston was flipped TWICE on bridges.
The competition was fierce for balancing and scores in Cincinnati were MUCH higher than Pittsburgh. The balancing in the initial rounds was also evident in the elimination rounds and the winning team (lead by #45 from Kocomo) was VERY good at three-robot balancing, which included the rookie robot, which was also from Kocomo.
We came back strong this morning by winning all three games, and one had to be replayed because someone walked in front of a drive using Konnect, but GoS won the rematch, so we won all four games. However, Friday was so bad that we didn't make it to the elimination round, which was dominated by teams from OH, IN, IL (GoS was the only PA team in Queen City).
Team 48 (from Ohio) won in Pittsburgh and was in the championship match in Cincy, but lost to the team led by #45.
GoS is only in their second season, and the team grew from 24 to 56, so MOST of the team (including my daughter) are rookies. They have a very powerful robot, but execution still needs work, but the team got a shot of confidence with 4 of 4 wins today.
Scoring was VERY high because the teams playing this late in the season have really honed their skills, including shooting and balancing.
Your win this late in the season means you are READY for St louis!
