But all these 122-cities numbers don't seem very reliable.
Maybe just reporting issues,data issues.

The death certificates at NCHS seem more reliable,
but they only show up 3-4 years later.

Maybe it takes that long to get the reliability...

Please.

Reality check. The easiest way to see the H1N1 deaths is to list the P&I deaths by age, which is data that the CDC withholds. That data is known, because the P&I deaths are included in the age distribution columns, but mixed in with the other deaths to create a major signal to noise problem.

However, for El Paso the 24 deaths in week 15 are the highest in the past 15 years for any week in El Paso. Similarly, the 43 deaths for weeks 14 and 15 are the highest two week total for the period, as are the 51 for the highest 3 week total. Moreover, the record numbers in 2011 were for weeks when overall influenza numbers for the state of Texas, as well as all of the US were in steep decline. In addition, H1N1 has been recently confirmed in El Paso and across the border in Juarez, including sequences from Juarez fatal cases, including 2 of 11 Chihuahua sub-clade sequences with D225N, and 5 more withheld.

The data are quite clear, no hand waving or claims of coincidence required.

Actually looking at the data, it is going down and will probably do so. This GSGS person seems very nice, why his he constantly bashed. He seems to be more realistic
Dr Niman than you.

The spike in deaths was pretty easy to see. GSGS filled up the board with data which really didn't add anything. He is constantly calling strong data coincidences and initially claimed that the excess deaths were in older patients which wasn't based on any data. He wanted to prove he was correct by taking bets, which has been his latest approach to claim that his make believe probabilities have some basis in fact.

Or increaed publicity because of the vaccination campaign -->
people with ILI think it's a good place to check in for ILI

The above location is in southeastern Jaurez. The Traffic Station with the fatal cluster was in eastern Juarez.

niman hates gsgs and is trying to chase him away because gsgs opposes niman's recombination theory

Most of GSGS posts are utter nonsense, like the one above.

last season Texas weekly published flu hospitalizations,
ICU-admissions and deaths by "Health Service Region"
(El Paso is region 9/10)

http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/idcu/diseas ... 0/week_20/

they still receive the reports from the regions this season but don't publish the details
http://www.dshs.state.tx.us/idcu/diseas ... lance/2011
Reports from Health Service Regions
Reports were received from all Health Service Regions (HSRs) for week 16. HSRs 4/5N, 6/5S, and 8 reported the same level of flu activity compared to week 15. All other HSRs reported a decreased level of flu activity compared to week 15

but nevertheless the ILI-ratio increased from 2.20 to 2.44

the youngerly(0-4)ratio increased to 0.42

0.34,0.31,0.28,0.26,0.22,0.21,0.17,0.24,0.27,0.28,0.30,0.31,0.35,0.33,0.30,0.42

(whole Texas, ILI-peak in week 7 with lowest youngerly-ratio)
