South America gets into winter now.
While the seasonal waves, including H1 in Texas are passed already.

And P&I deaths in El Paso are at record levels in April (weeks 14 & 15).

You remain clueless beyond belief.

AFAIK we only say that strain in Chihuahua and USA,
but the USA-H1N1 wave is over (no "wildfire")

I'll search for the WHO-statement

Please. It's all about Chihuahua, which is spreading like wildfire, no reassortment required. There are non-WHO sequencers who have samples and the relationship with Chihuahua is not hard to see, including D225N.

yes, that's a bit alarming, that's why I started this thread.
But it's just only El Paso and we don't know the reason yet.
And 19,24 is not so many yet
(as compared to the estimated 40000 yearly US-flu-induced-deaths,
~5000-10000 of which from P+I)

Its more than the past 15 years and is averaging 17%, which is double the epidemic threshhold. Your 5,000-10,000 P&I number is another fantasy.

latest WHO report:

http://www.who.int/csr/disease/influenz ... llance/en/

WHO puts out comments AFTER the fact. Chihuahua is spreading like wildfire (well beyond Juarez), as seen in the multiple countries mentioned in the WHO alert

There have been outbreaks in Ecuador (January 2011), Mexico and
Venezuela (March 2011). In the past 3 weeks, the Dominican Republic's
National Influenza Centre has detected an increase in the positive
samples of influenza A(H1N1) 2009. In the last month, other sporadic
detections have occurred in Cuba, Colombia, Honduras, Jamaica and El
Salvador.

What you know isn't reality based. Chihuahua is widespread throughout North and South America, as has been noted for weeks. That is why the alert was issued. No alert was issued for the UK or other outbreaks in the northern hemisphere.

This is ALL about Chihuahua and D225N.

In WHO's own words (emphasis added):

It is recommended that all of the countries activate their National Preparedness Plans for the pandemic and follow the WHO and PAHO recommendations.
