Health authorities in the state denied two alleged deaths from influenza type A H1N1, recorded in the Hospital Victorino Santaella (HVS) also announced that a total of 90 000 doses have been applied to vaccines to pregnant women, children and adults over 60 years.

THE TEQUES .- Yesterday, officials from the Ministry of Popular Power for Health in the state denied two alleged deaths from influenza type A H1N1, recorded in the Hospital Victorino Santaella (HVS), the regional epidemiologist, Dr. Luis Pichardo said that Two cases died from causes very different from the flu. "We can not frighten the public with rumors that are not confirmed by authorities, journalists have to find official sources when it comes to cases like this," said Pichardo, who explained the medical reports showing that people did not suffer from the H1N1.

Qualify for "unethical" to information published by local media which indicate that there were two deaths from H1N1 in Los Teques, and accusing the doctors of issuing a false diagnosis, putting into question their professional integrity as physicians, " We can not disqualify one from public corridors for mere allegations "he said.

The first case, a man aged 23, detained at the detention center in Los Teques, known as "The Catch", who was admitted to hospital presenting a severe head trauma with a severe urinary infection associated with a lower respiratory infection , typical of pneumonia, and underwent the test of influenza, which was sent to the National Institute of Health (NIH) Dr. Rafael Rangel "(the only one who can determine if a positive case), giving negative.

He called on the community not to play into the hands of local media to create panic in the public offering information "fanciful product of the lack of professionalism and integrity of some people seeking to scare people with lies and false statements" said. . Also offered in detail to official figures, where Los Altos Mirandinos in the region have fewer cases in the state, the epidemiologist said the situation is under control and that the cases are far below expectations, "the ministry has full control the shoot, so that people can remain calm and not fall in the evil games of some sectors, "he said.

Three factors determine the particular behavior of the H1N1 virus in Venezuela, compared with the rest of the world: geography, growth and dominance.

After analyzing the current reports of the Pan American Health and Epidemiology Bulletin No. 12, Ministry of Health, former Health Minister Jose Felix Oletta said the fact that the virus is found throughout the national territory is a condition does not happen in most any other party.

"The conduct of increased circulation of influenza H1N1 virus is exceptional and unique in the continent, probably in the world, according to the document EW09 Regional Influenza Update March 15, 2011, OPS, shown in latest report of the Scientific Medical Societies Network Venezuelan.

The epidemiologist said, by way of example, that in Mexico there were cases, but especially in the state of Chihuahua. In Russia, the spread of the virus is targeted.

While Cuba, Dominican Republic, Costa Rica, Guatemala, Honduras, Nicaragua, Panama, Peru, Argentina and Paraguay do not show movement of H1N1 influenza virus, and in Jamaica, Ecuador and Colombia recorded a few cases.

Oletta also highlighted the fact that the prevalence of the virus. Of the cases that were positive in the samples analyzed at the National Institute of Hygiene Rafael Rangel influenza was 49%, of that total, 86% was specifically H1N1, making it the dominant virus.

As for the victims that has claimed the disease so far this year has doubled the number of deaths (8) compared to the total of all 2010 (4).

Oletta referred to the vaccine shortage and what it considers unnecessary immunization to people aged 59 years, the vast majority have antibodies to fend off the virus. The most vulnerable groups (apart from the chronically ill and pregnant women) children 1 to 4 years of age, children under 1 year and those between 25 and 49.

On Monday, the chain Locatel received another batch of immunizations for adults but not children. Yesterday there were long queues of people waiting to be immunized against the disease. According to the latest report from the Ministry of Health recorded 712 infections.

Patience and Prevention. The plan for immunization against H1N1 in Táchira is incomplete. The state only 30,000 doses were sent.

"Biological product arrived on Thursday last week and started to make the distribution to health districts to get them to come to clinics and hospitals," said Noel Calderon CorposaludTáchira epidemiologist.

At points like the Comprehensive Diagnostic Medical Center San Juan Bautista, San Cristobal, were placed signs warning of the lack of vaccines.

Calderon said, according to reports, attended mostly vaccinated elderly people and patients with any condition. It noted that still shots against the H1N1 requesting the Ministry of Health. "It takes patience, but we urge the group to comply with preventive measures," he said.

Were positive in samples taken from a volunteer working in Cuban Barrio Adentro and was traveling in Caracas and surrounding states to Táchira. Calderon said that both the group working abroad and those living with it are subject to clinical monitoring.

Although only a small fraction of H1N1 are lab confirmed, the above comments demostrates that the current H1N1 in Venezuela is markedly more deadly than the H1N1 circulating last season.

Right, Venezuelans read about the H1N1 outbreak in Mexico and forgot to wash their hands (and coincidentally were infected with the sub-clade from Mexico)!
