WHO Collaborating Centre for Reference and Research on Influenza in Australia released 16 sequences from late 2010, early 2011 (4 were from December or January). 9 had S188T and 2 had S186P.

From memory, weren't these first found in Australia from October?

They were in Australia in October, but first appeared there in the summer (but frequency is clearly rising).

S186P was in Canberra in August. S188T was in Victoria in July.

A/VICTORIA/1204/2010 has S186P and patient (20M) was vaccinated in 2010 and was part of an October cluster.

A/VICTORIA/1202/2010 (21M) also has S186P, was also in the October cluster, and was also vaccinated and antigenic characterization did NOT indicate the isolate was a low reactor.
