Four human matches and one swine match in the entire database speaks volumes.

CDC Comments On Swine H3N2 Cases In United States
Recombinomics Commentary 21:07
November 12, 2010

Two cases of human infection with a novel influenza A virus were reported: one case by the Wisconsin Department of Health Services and one case by the Pennsylvania Department of Health. Both patients were infected with a swine origin influenza A (H3N2) virus similar to the three other swine origin influenza A (H3N2) viruses previously identified in 2009 and 2010. The Wisconsin case reported contact with pigs in the week preceding symptom onset on September 8, 2010

CDC reports indicate the Wisconsin case (Wisconsin/12/2010) developed symptoms on September 8, 2010 and the report on the PA case indicated that symptoms began on September 6, 2010, but reporting was delayed because virus couldn't be culture. Then on a Sunday, April 17 - 7 months afterb the fact the CDC deposits ONE sample at GISAID with no fanfare and no indication the sample is an H3N2 triple reassortant (other samples were labeled as such). This sequence, Pennsylvania/40/2010, is virtually identical to the Wisconsin sequence.

Two cases developing symptoms 2 days apart in two seperate states with sequences looking to be nearly identical sounds much like the pandemic H1N1 outbreak in 2009 where the first two cases in southern California (samples collected 2 days apart) had nearly identical sequences with no prior contact.

The pager alert is looking to be increasingly significant and the 7 month delay in releasing the sequences continues to be suspect (as do the multiple comments from PA about novel H3N2 isolations).
