Were these found in the samples from late in the Southern Hemisphere's winter?

The two samples with both changes are from India and Japan. Most have one or the other, as list in the two travel logs above.

Got it. Thanks.

I presume the vax for the southern hemisphere next winter is now in production. Has there been an announcement what swine flu component they are using? They're surely not still using the original California A?

Thanks. Have they even updated the H3N2 and Flu Type B components?

Recommended composition of influenza virus vaccines for use in the 2011 southern hemisphere influenza season
It is recommended that vaccines for use in the 2011 influenza season (southern hemisphere winter) contain the following:

— an A/California/7/2009 (H1N1)-like virus;
— an A/Perth/16/2009 (H3N2)-like virus;*
— a B/Brisbane/60/2008-like virus.

* A/Wisconsin/15/2009 and A/Victoria/210/2009 are A/Perth/16/2009-like viruses.

Bloody hell, so it's the same triple vax they've been running with for close to three years. If you've had this shot before, then there's no point in getting another one?

Here is a transcript from Feb 2010. In that document, it says that they have chosen the strains for 2010-2011 flu season and also, for 2011, which I suppose means for the southern hemisphere.

If they meet twice a year, and they are gearing up for another February meeting now, then why don't they choose strains separately for the southern hemisphere?

I didn't find the transcript from the September 2010 meeting of SAGE.

Thanks Dr N and Tex for the links. The news hasn't made my morning.

If you've had the vax last winter, then it seems there's no point in getting another vax this winter on two levels:

1. It's same as before

2. It probably won't work anyway, given the subject of this thread.
