Nationwide there are now 4 cases of Dengue Haemmorhagic Fever reported through week 17 (not current week) (I believe this is a decrease in the YTD total versus what was reported last week). Two each in Maine and Pennsylvania  not the types of areas one would expect to find Dengue in.

127 additional cases of invasive S. pneumoniae infections were reported. This brings the YTD total to 5,413 versus 1394 through week 17 of last year.

Seems to me that this could be a serious development if the mosquito responsible is now in those more northern states. Perhaps people infected were in areas that are prone to dengue and not infected in Maine or Pennsylvania. After all they're still playing hockey in Pittsburg, certainly not a tropical climate!

I think these represent suspected cases, and most, if not all, will turn out negative.

Perhaps these cases all have something in common? Like for instance they work on the dock unloading imported vegitables, or ........
