The child, have insured physicians, is well and has never been in danger of dying.

To confirm the report was the Dean of the Faculty of Medicine, and Chairman of the Italian Society of Virology, Professor Giorgio Palu '. The fact was immediately informed the Minister of Health, Ferruccio Fazio. H274Y still seems very sparodic. No major reports of clusters or transmission.

Will it just go 'bang' one day or will its be a slow gradual increase over time or not at all. I suppose we really dont know.

Previous seasonal H1N1 seemed to just go 'Bang' to 100 % tamiflu resistance. Maybe I'm wrong. !!

Additional article on Italian oseltamivir resistant case:

Influenza A virus mutation discovered about 3 years old baby
The laboratory of the Department of Histology, Microbiology and Medical Biotechnologies,
University of Padua, has identified a mutation in a gene of influenza A in a child of three and a half years
(immunocompromised), hospitalized in isolation in the pediatric ward of the hospital Padua.

Apparently the confirmation by Minister of Health, Ferruccio Fazio is still lacking on the Ministry website.
On the other hand, the last Italian oficial weekly bulletin "InfluNet" week 01-2010 covers 4 to 10 January,
http://www.ministerosalute.it/influenza/documenti/epidemiologica/Italia2010_01.pdf
so the Tamiflu resistance case (Jan 19) is likely to be reported on Week 02 "InfluNet" issue [not yet available]

On the other hand last virologic situation update was issued January 18, and also miss this specific case:
