CDC has released more Ukraine sequences at GISAID.

What is the status of them. Low reactors? D225G?

They ducked the low reactor status by saying they were California/7-like by PCR.

Five sequences (partials on HA and PB2). No info on patient status or site of collection. These were collected at same time as Mill Hill (Oct 28).
Two of the five have D225N (one as a mixture)!

Based on sample number and demographics, I believe that 3 of the 5 CDC sequences are from the 5 patients who survived in western Ukraine.

Two samples (Ukraine 1 and 2) are labeled with ages that do not match the Mill Hill samples. I would assume that these are fatal cases and these are the two samples with D225N.

All sequences are the same sub-clade and collected within a day of each other. They are likely from six fatal cases, once again highlighting the significance of the receptor binding domain and arguing for transmission, since each change is in at least two samples and a change at position 225 is found in 100% of the fatal samples.

The threshold of H274Y becoming fixed in the viral population has been breached, is that same situation now underway for D225G or could it be thought to be firmly entrenched as well?

"However, it is increasingly clear that the receptor binding domain changes are transmitting and are associated with severe and fatal infections."

If they're transmitting, how come those around them don't catch it? Family members and so on.

And if transmitting without killing people and raising alarms, how come it's almost never found in non-lethal cases?

The WHO/CDC model of the same mutation showing up sure seems to fit with the data a lot better.

There are over 450 deaths in Ukraine, and millions infected. These case are not being tested. 6 of 6 fatal isn't a coincidence.

D225G is becoming increasing common, but testing remains abysmal, so the true frequency is not solid.
