Translated link http://translate.google.com/translate?u ... ndows-1251 from some 140 thousand people, but what percentage of them diagnosed with pneumonia and influenza is unknown. ]

45 people died
45/140,000 x 100 = 0.0321 or about the same cfr as everywhere else in the world.

Actually there have been 144 people only 45 with burnt lungs. so the calcs have to be done over. Sorry

Please. The calcs are nonsense either way. CFR's are based on OUTCOMES (dead or discharged)

I think you are misreading that bit. There are 144 deaths confirmed nationally but the article was talking specifically about Lviv Region and stated 140 thousand cases with 45 deaths - some of which had burnt lungs. Note we are now up to 150 thousand infected and 61 deaths in Lviv after the most recent update - translated link at http://translate.googleusercontent.com/ ... v7qHOzc9sQ

However as others are pointing out there are a lot of people in hospital who won't make it so it is bit early to try and pin down a CFR.

Yes it is to early to pin down a cfr. My point is just that the Ukraine looks about the same as everywhere else.

You can't make the CFR point without outcomes. They have almost 44,000 hospitalized which is NOT the same as everwhere else.

IMHO, you should not compare the state of "being hospitalized" in California and Ukraine. And most of ukrainians are hospitalized "for free", e.g they are paying 0 USD per day stay at hospital, besides paying for the medicines

Ukraine still has a vast excess of "beds" available at the hospitals, it is a long story started as far as 20-30s from XX century

Quote:
The fact is that the at People's Commissar of Health Nikolai Semashko http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nikolai_Semashko_(medicine) and his followers have focused on creating the maximum number of beds, and is considered key to good medicine. And that vision problems were caused by the fact that at the dawn of creation of the Soviet health care system the main task was to fight the epidemic, which is why it is crucial to create the maximum number of hospitals that could isolate the sick.

FYI, it is quite normal for post-Soviet countries to operate the term that can be translated into English as
"bed-place in hospital".

The average number of "bed-places" in Ukraine is 87.7 per 10 000 inhabitants, or 403, 420 beds (that's including everything, even mental hospitals)

For example, Zhytomyr region (equivalent to US state) inhibited by 1,317,912 people has alone ~45 hospitals + 2 mental hospitals.
