Heavy snow, rain and strong winds on January 8 damaged power supply lines and caused
electricity cuts in 218 towns and villages in four regions of Ukraine. Snowstorms blacked out 141 towns and
villages in Poltava region, 52 in Kharkiv region, sixteen in Kyiv region and nine in Luhansk region,
Ukrainian Emergencies Ministry's spokesman Ihor Kril said on Friday.
Emergency units at local power distribution companies are working to restore the power supply.
As of 0700 on January 8, the railway, road and air traffic resumed in full.
Brigades of Ukravtodor, the State Road Service of Ukraine, are clearing the roads.
