They are basically saying that the H1N1 has mutated

53 suspected cases of A H1N1 in Chihuahua

CHIHUAHUA. The Secretary of Health of Chihuahua informed that there add six the persons who have died with pictures that coincide with the influenza A H1N1; till now three have been confirmed and others are analyzed by a medical committee to determine if this was the cause of the decease.


Before these sprouts, the dependencies on Health of Tamaulipas, Michoacán, It Lowers California, Jalisco and Colime informed that they stay alert to detect cases opportunely.


The dependency chihuahuense detailed that on Monday night the sixth patient died in less than one week and there rose up to 53 the number of cases that became considered suspects. Of those, eight were confirmed as A H1N1, 31 are in study and 14 were discarded.


Before this situation, it continues an intense campaign of vaccination in clinics, public buildings, schools and companies with high number of employees. Personnel of the secretary informed that it is hoped that during Wednesday and Thursday approximately 250 thousand vaccines should arrive more at the state.



In City Juárez, the spokesman of the Medical Committee, Héctor Puertas Rincones, and the undersecretary of Health of the state in the north zone, Felipe Fornelli Lafón, two persons informed that on this border there is hospitalized for A H1N1. In this city 17 add the cases that have been suspicious, of which six turned out to be positive to the virus, six negatives and five are in study.

Yesterday they restored operative several of vaccination in the offices of the municipal dependencies on City Juárez and in the Frontier Customs.


The General Prosecutor's Office of the State initiated the application of vaccines against this type of influenza to more than 5 thousand workpeople and interns of the jails. The spokesman of the FGE, Carlos González Estrada, told that the vaccine against the virus A H1N1 will be applied by the support of the Services of Health.


They take measures

In Low California, José Bustamante Moreno, secretary of Health, said that two sick patients have presented himself; one of them died. He informed that they support the preventive measurements and it continues the epidemiologic alertness.


In Colime, the Secretary of Health and Social Well-being is attentive on the new sprouts of influenza, said the holder of the dependency, Agustín Lara, who added that in the first three months of the year only eight cases registered.


The Secretary of Health of Michoacán implemented the operative one of deliberate search of patients with symptoms of influenza in the municipality of Marcos Castellanos, where there was living a man who died for this illness in Jalisco.

So, we have 7 dead in Chihuahua, 1 in Baja California and 1 in Jalisco. 9 deaths related to H1N1 reported by the media in a week.

Yes, the numbers are rising quickly and these numbers significantly under-represent the number of deaths. 2011 continues to look more and more like 2009, signaling a rapidly spreading lethal version of H1N1.

"We don't want one more death in this situation," said Health Secretary Francisco Osuna.

The light epidemiological reports, remains green. There is no recent alarm cases of H1N1 virus, a total of six, there were no late winter, he said.

So far, he said, there is no problem that can affect the lives of citizens, was achieved thanks to an adequate level of vaccination, which has prevented an epidemic outbreak, but it is recommended to people who present some symptoms seek medical advice immediately and not self-medicate.

"The epidemic in the second quarter of 2009 left a great experience for coping as well as a good culture of food handling, so there is no risk that comes to spread, "he said on his part the president of the National Chamber Trade Mendicuti Arturo, who recalled that at the time sales fell 30 percent in average hotel occupancy while it did so by 99 percent.

It is not clear what is circulating in Mexico. However, earlier isolates from Costa Rica swine had a large number of nonsynonymous HA changes. A jump to humans would create some serious subtyping issues.
