VIA CIDRAP: :hello:

Quote:
Veterinary officials in Mexico today said that they detected the pandemic virus in two pigs at a farm in Queretaro state in late April after the virus was first confirmed in humans, according to a report from the World Organization for Animal Health (OIE). The farm had 360 pigs at the time. The infections were found during enhanced surveillance at pig farms throughout Mexico. Regular testing at the affected and surrounding farms has found no other cases.

So, they found this in April, and are announcing it today?

Mexico City closes museums to stop flu outbreak

April 24, 2009 http://www.physorg.com/news159807509.html

It's a frightening new strain that combines genetic material from pigs, birds and humans.

This was a early report just so we can see where we were.

I believe 07/12/2009 is December 7, 2009. Sequencing was done in November.

Yup. Good pickup, Dr. Niman. Mea culpa. Apologies to the board for the error with second date's format.

Here's the corrected info:

Started Report April 30

First confirmation May 1

Date of Report Dec 7

Date Submitted to OIE Dec 10

Question

If this was so super virulent in its beginnings in Mexico, sickening almost a thousand in that city alone, and so fast. What changed and exactly when?

Does anyone have a number of sequences that could make this determination???

Could it be judged by it evolution if it is included?

I know the history books will say they saved us all with the vaccine, but we know when that came out. So what gives it away????
