This is further evidence that H274Y is not only transmitting on a fit H1N1, but also on a lethal H1N1.

? In the last week the hospitalization rate for a laboratory confirmed
New infection with Influenza A (H1N1) decreased from last week, 104
patients have been reported this week against 227 last week. In addition, 8 new
deaths reported: a 14-year-old boy, a 39-year-old woman, a 50-year-old man, a 52 --
old woman, a 54-year-old man, a 58-year-old woman, a 63-year-old woman and a 63-year-old
men, 7 of which have underlying disease. In the 14-year-old boy is no underlying disease
demonstrated. 8 One of the deceased person was vaccinated against Influenza A New
(H1N1) and 4 of deceased persons was unknown whether they were vaccinated against
New Influenza A (H1N1).
? The age distribution of patients hospitalized for a laboratory confirmed
New infection with Influenza A (H1N1) shows that 92% younger than 65 years younger and 50%
than 20 years. Most images of children aged 0 to 4 years (27%).
? In total, until December 9, 2068 patients hospitalized and 50
deceased patients. In 58% of inpatients and 90% of the deceased
patients had underlying medical problems.
? The number of patients with flu-like symptoms that are reported to the GP is the last
week further declined. The incidence of influenza-like illness (IAZ) in recent
week was 6.1 per 10,000 inhabitants. In 7 of the 30 samples (23%) were New
Influenza A (H1N1) found. The incidence of pneumonia was 1.7 per 10,000 inhabitants.
? Last week 9 Intensive Care recordings reported, this decrease is compared with previous
week when pictures were reported IC 14. A total of 196 patients included (were)
in Intensive Care. Of these patients, 110 persons had mechanical ventilation
necessary and 68% of patients had an underlying disease.
? Several of the National Influenza Center from week 28 studied influenza viruses
was 96% of type A (H1N1) v.
? Until this week were 11 patients diagnosed in the Netherlands, including 5 this week,
with a New Influenza A (H1N1) virus that is resistant to the antiviral agent Tamiflu
(oseltamivir) that such patients are treated. Four of these patients are deceased.
Around the 11 patients have so far no laboratory confirmed cases of transmission
of the resistant influenza virus found.
? Within the Nursing Infectious Diseases Surveillance Network (SNIV) No increase in the
incidence of influenza-like illness seen. There is no increase in pneumonia among
nursing home residents.
? In the week ending Wednesday, December 2, 2009 in the total mortality of CBS
see no increase.
Conclusion: The number of people visiting the doctor for flu-like symptoms is
further decreased. On this basis can still be spoken of a mild
flu epidemic in the Netherlands, which now decreases towards the baseline. The number of reported
hospitalizations and IC recordings is also further decreased compared to last week. There
in the past week 8 people deceased as a result of the New Influenza A
(H1N1), including 7 with known underlying medical problems

They have a small report at the newspaper, nothing about the mutations.. It's even not on the frontpage so far, and they are the only newspaper who did a report about H1N1 in the Netherlands...

H1N1 is almost out of the Netherlands.... for newspapers...

In my understanding, the vaccine uptake in the Netherlands was 60%. Is this high uptake causing mutations in a vaccine that suffers from low effectiveness due to drift? And since tamiflu resistance and binding domain changes have been factors from the outset of this pandemic , doesn't this speak of irresponsibilty? Not to mix subjects, but wasn't there a major problem with prevnar, the pneumococcal conjugate vaccine in the nethelands as well this fall?

Come on now, Dr. Niman...all those mutations of the same kind in that one place just happened to arise by entirely random mutation. Uh. huh.
